PAST AND ONGOING PROGRAMS

The Feed for Glory Programm:

The Eva Myers Foundation provides food assistance to impoverished communities and selected orphanages in Liberia during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. We identify underprivileged communities and select two orphanages as beneficiaries. During these occasions, EMF hosts a festive event where volunteers engage with the children, sharing meals, playing games, and distributing gifts.

To date, this initiative has benefited 12 orphanages and 4 communities, encompassing 1000 children and adults.

EMF Vocational Training Program:

EMF provides vocational and skills training to single mothers who have left school prematurely. This training encompasses various skills such as tailoring, hairdressing, parenting, and basic life skills. The program’s ultimate aim is to prepare these women for job opportunities and entrepreneurial ventures, enabling them to support both themselves and their children.

The center offers additional resources, including counseling, mentoring, and ongoing guidance for mothers throughout and after program completion. So far, this program has benefited 120 single mothers, many of whom have successfully secured employment or started their own businesses. Remarkably, 50% of these mothers were initially at risk of abandoning their children; however, through the training and coaching provided, they now offer care and support to their children.

Support to orphanages and welfare institutions in Liberia:

The organization extends its support to orphanages and welfare institutions in Liberia, offering food, non-food items, and medical assistance. To date, this initiative has positively impacted 7 orphanages and 2 welfare institutions.

Girls & Adolescent Program:

EMF provides sanitary napkins, essential hygiene kits, sex education, and life skills education to girls and adolescents between the ages of 12-25. Beyond the distribution of sanitary pads, these young ladies receive education on life skills and sexual reproductive health. As part of this initiative, EMF also establishes a platform for these young women to convene, engage in dialogue, socialize, and share their experiences with each other.

PENDING PROJECTS

Early Childhood Development Center:

The Early Childhood Development Center will offer a comprehensive suite of services, including health, nutrition, early education, and social programs, designed for children aged 0-5 years. Additionally, the project aims to provide parenting and psychosocial services to the mothers of enrolled children. The primary objective is to prevent family separation, which is a prevalent issue in Liberia. Poverty remains the leading cause of children being separated from their mothers; thus, the program will equip both mothers and children with the necessary resources and support to mitigate this issue.

Job Readiness Resource Center:

EMF will establish a training facility to support underprivileged youth in completing their high school education and enrolling in college. This program will encompass a variety of elements, including computer learning, internet research skills, secretarial science, customer service training, job readiness preparation, and psychosocial counseling.

Eva Myers Foundation Children’s Home:

The Goal of EMF Children’s Home Project is to ensure that abandoned, abused orphaned and other vulnerable children (Children living with disabilities) are placed in a secure and productive home environment for permanent or transitional placement. The Home will provide education, medical, recreation and other child protection services ensuring that all opportunities are provided for the children to reach their highest potential.
