c. Advocating for proactive, community-based, comprehensive, sustainable, and consistent services that address the current needs of the community.

Our Story

The Eva Myers Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was established to provide Social Welfare and Social Protection Services to the most vulnerable and poverty-stricken populations, enabling them to lead healthy and productive lives.

We focus on assisting vulnerable women, abandoned, and orphaned children. The vision for this Foundation was conceived in 2006 and officially established and incorporated on June 12, 2007, in Liberia as the ‘Eva Home for Children and Families’ nonprofit organization. This organization was established in honor of my late mother, Eva Myers Garnett, who was a true philanthropist.

After its initial establishment in Liberia, the organization continued to provide support to orphanages, hospitals, vocational training institutions, welfare institutions, and communities. With this background, the Foundation decided to expand its services globally. Therefore, the board of directors made the decision to change its name and register it in the United States of America, where it is now known as the Eva Myers Foundation.

About the CEO, Eva Myers Foundation

Madame Lydia-Mai Sherman, CEO, Eva Myers Foundation is a professional Social Worker and Mental Health Clinician with over 25 years of experience. She holds a Masters degree in Social Work with emphasis on Policy Development from Howard University and Bachelors of Arts in Social Work minoring in Psychology from University of Maryland, Baltimore County. She worked as a Mental Health Counselor and Social Worker for over 25 years in the private and public sectors in the United States of America and the Republic of Liberia.

Madame Sherman left her Native Land Liberia, 1990 due to 14 years civil unrest but returned home 2007 to help and rebuild a broken and fragile society. She worked with the Senior Executive program as a Senior Coordinator at the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (Now Ministry of Health) and the Ministry of Gender and Development (Now Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection). Former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf appointed her as Deputy Minister for Children and Social Protection, Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection in 2014 and was reappointed in 2017 by His Excellency Dr. George Weah. She is also a professor at the Mother Patern School of social work where she teaches the masters level of Social Work. She is very passionate about the care and protection children as well as other disadvantaged groups. She is a true believer of the holistic approach for children to have better lives and a brighter future.

She has served as chaired and co-chaired on various committees establishing amending laws for the care and protection of women and children. Examples, Children’s law of Liberia, National Social Welfare Policy, National Social Protection Policy, Adoptions law, Mental Health Policy and Plan, National Aids Policy and Plan, National Gender Policy and the Establishment of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection.

She continues to advocate for the rights and protection of children and all other disadvantaged groups through lobbying, awareness, program development, Systems strengthening.

She is a mother of two adult children, Charles and Joyce but cares for many less fortunate and abandoned children in Liberia.

Momolue Joseph Kiadii

Momolue Joseph Kiadii is an accomplished Information Technology Professional with over thirty (30) years of outstanding experience in Software Analysis, Development, Support, Integration and Testing at multiple organizations including retail, healthcare, telecommunications, banking, and government.

He was born in Monrovia, Liberia, where he received his primary and secondary education. He graduated from the College of West Africa in 1984 (Salutatorian) and then matriculated at the Cuttington University College in Suakoko, Bong County, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics (Magna Cum Laude) in 1988.

He started his professional carrier at the Liberia Electricity Corporation in 1989 as a Computer Programmer in the Data Processing Department. His family left Liberia in 1991 for the United States of America where he later enrolled at the University of Texas at Dallas and obtained a Master of Science in Computer Science in 1993.

Mr. Kiadii continued his professional career in Chicago, Illinois as an Information Technology Consultant for some of the most prestigious global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing companies at that time – namely, Andersen Consultant (now Accenture), Computer Sciences Corporation and Sema Telecom Incorporated.

He moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1999 and for the next eleven (11) years worked as Lead Software Applications Engineer in Retail Sales and Marketing for two of the largest companies in Atlanta – Coca-Cola Enterprises and Macys System and Technology.

Mr. Kiadii next pursued an opportunity as a Consulting Partner for Teradata Corporation at the prestigious SAS Institute in Cary, North Carolina in 2010, then joined the Research and Development Data Management Group at SAS Institute, a world leading analytics and software solutions company.

Mr. Kiadii currently lives in Raleigh, North Carolina with his wife of 20 years, Memezie, and two children Momolue Jr and Victoria.

Cllr. Idella Cooper

Cllr. Idella Cooper is a Counsellor-at-law, admitted to practice law in the Republic of Liberia and in the state of New York, United States of America for the past seventeen years. She received her BA in political science from Columbia University and her Juris Doctor from the Fordham University School of Law.

Cllr. Cooper is the Managing Partner of Cooper and Associates, and serves on the Boards of the Liberian Petroleum Regulatory Authority and the Insurance Company of Africa. She previously served in the capacity of Legal Advisor to the CEO of the National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL), as the Deputy Minister of Justice for Economic Affairs, as the Assistant Minister of Justice for Economic Affairs, as a Member of the Board of Directors of both NOCAL and LPRC, and as a Commissioner of Public Procurement and Concessions Committee.

During her time with the Ministry of Justice, Cllr. Cooper was, among other things, involved in and responsible for providing legal opinions and advice to government ministries and agencies, for the review and drafting of significant pieces of legislation, as well as the negotiation of a number of large-scale concession agreements involving infrastructure, extractive resources and agriculture. Prior to her appointments, Ms. Cooper worked in New York as an Attorney for Cox, Padmore, Skolnik & Shakarchy LLP.

Tanya Ansahta Garnett, PhD

Tanya Ansahta Garnett has two decades of experience in international development as a professor, technical adviser, researcher, facilitator, and gender expert.

As an educator both in the United States and in Liberia, she teaches international development and gender studies, facilitating knowledge sharing with youth and mid-career professionals. She is passionate about strengthening the effectiveness of international development through meaningful collaboration, critical thinking, organizational change management, pertinent evidence-based analysis, participatory program design, and systematic monitoring, evaluation, and learning. She obtained her doctorate degree in International Development from Tulane University Law School. Her research interests have focused on gender and development, peace processes, and post-conflict societies.

Dr. Garnett is the Director of the University of Liberia’s Ibrahim B. Babangida School for International Studies and Assistant Professor at the Honors College of Gender Studies and Interdisciplinary Research. She launched a feminist research firm in 2021, Nunlai Research & Consulting, exploring the nexus between gender and development, stakeholder and community engagement, and sustainable natural resource management. She is based in Monrovia, Liberia with her family.

Joyce Frankfort

Joyce Garnett Cassell-Frankfort is an accomplished program manager with extensive experience in the criminal justice system. She holds a Masters in Forensic Psychology and has demonstrated expertise in implementing projects aimed at effecting behavioral and attitudinal change in adults. Her notable achievements include revitalizing the Justice and Security Joint Program and establishing effective project planning systems. Joyce is also adept at building strategic partnerships with government institutions and development partners. In addition, she has played a pivotal role in the implementation of the Government of Liberia Plan for UNMIL Transition, providing crucial support in strategic planning and program management. Furthermore, her contributions to the creation of the first Probation Services in Liberia highlight her leadership and innovation in the field. Joyce ‘ s career reflects a results-driven approach and a commitment to reforming the justice and security sector.

Joyce Garnett Cassell-Frankfort is not only a dedicated professional but also a loving parent. She is a mother to six children, two of whom are her biological offspring. Joyce has shared 36 years of marital bliss with her husband, David Frankfort. Currently, they lead a bi-coastal lifestyle, splitting their time between Liberia and England, which showcases their adaptability and global perspective. This rich personal life complements Joyce ‘ s impressive career achievements, highlighting her ability to balance professional success with a fulfilling family life.
